Robinia pseudoacacia decline and fine root dynamics in a plantation chronosequence in the Yellow River Delta, China

چکیده

Abstract Fine roots (<2 mm in diameter) play a significant role tree growth and stand productivity. However, knowledge of fine root dynamics saline alkali soil remains limited. Using sequential core ingrowth methods, we assessed the aboveground biomass (AGB) production (AGP), (FRB), (FRP) turnover (FRT), properties (water content [SWC], salt [SSC], pH nutrients) 2-, 18-, 32- 42-year-old black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.) stands Yellow River Delta, China. Corresponding to unimodal pattern AGP, AGB rapidly increased until age 32 then slowed down. In contrast, across all depths, FRB FRP took with decrease around 32, FRT continually decreased age. SWC nutrients age, whereas SSC increased. Based on correlation analysis, may presume that addition effect, decline AGP is most likely caused by SWC, SSC, stresses through dysfunction nutrient absorption roots.

Fine root dynamics in a developing Populus deltoides plantation.

A closely spaced (1 x 1 m) cottonwood (Populus deltoides Bartr.) plantation was established to evaluate the effects of nutrient availability on fine root dynamics. Slow-release fertilizer (17:6:12 N,P,K plus micronutrients) was applied to 225-m(2) plots at 0, 50, 100 and 200 kg N ha(-1), and plots were monitored for two growing seasons. Fine root production, mortality, live root standing crop a...

Carbon Storage in a Eucalyptus Plantation Chronosequence in Southern China

Patterns of carbon (C) allocation across different stages of stand development in Eucalyptus urophylla × E. grandis plantations are not well understood. In this study, we examined biomass and mineral soil C content in five development stages (1, 2, 3, 4–5, and 6–8 years old) of a Eucalyptus stand in southern China. The tree biomass C pool increased with stand age and showed a high annual rate o...

Dynamics of soil organic and inorganic carbon in the cropland of upper Yellow River Delta, China

Soil inorganic carbon (SIC) and organic carbon (SOC) are important carbon reservoirs in terrestrial ecosystems. However, little attention was paid to SIC dynamics in cropland. We conducted a survey in the upper Yellow River Delta of North China Plain. We collected 155 soil samples from 31 profiles, and measured SOC, SIC and soluble Ca2+ and Mg2+ contents. Our results showed that mean SOC conten...

Distribution of phthalate esters in topsoil: a case study in the Yellow River Delta, China

The Yellow River Delta (YRD) is a typical agricultural and petrochemical industrial area of China. To assess the current status of phthalate esters (PAEs) of soil residues, soil samples (0∼20 cm) (n = 82) were collected in Bincheng District, at the geographic center of the YRD. PAEs were detected in all topsoil samples analyzed, which indicated that PAEs are ubiquitous environmental contaminant...
